Comprised mostly of current Mason Gross music students, the band delivers a dynamic blend of pop-punk energy and intricate musical textures. As Cone Magazine describes, “Anchored by Sid’s agile basslines and complemented by Kenna’s soaring vocals, the band’s pop-punk heart is woven with nuanced textures, creating a sound that deepens with each listen. 2 p.m. Necto is a New Jersey-based band that blends emo and punk influences, known for their intense performances and catchy melodies. They have a raw edge to their sound but also incorporate softer, more melodic elements.
2:25 p.m. Simmerr is a dynamic seven-piece band featuring saxophone and trumpet, known for their high-energy, danceable original songs and soulful vocals. Led by vocalist/keyboardist James Acre and guitarist/vocalist Jairo Campo, Simmerr blends 80s soul, indie-rock influences, carefree yacht rock vibes, and Latin jazz rhythms to create an irresistibly joyful sound. In May, they headlined the TSQ stage at Times Square, captivating a packed crowd and thousands of passersby. Their latest single, Parallel, released in June, is a yacht-rock/retro breakup ballad with a “smiling through your tears” energy. Their debut single, Get You Flying, features an upbeat, feel-good groove with standout brass performances by Charles Ritz (Zoe Sparks) on saxophone and Jeffrey Pinsker-Smith (Couch) on trumpet. Produced by Tucker Bickell (Couch, Chloe Southern, Victor Franco) and Charles Ritz (Zoe Sparks), Simmerr’s sound merges live instrumentation with modern production, aligning with artists like Lawrence, Couch, and PREP.
